Everything you need to know before booking your Yellowstone winter adventure.
Our winter season runs from December 15th to March 15th. This is when the park's interior roads are open to oversnow vehicles only — no regular cars. It's the most magical time to experience Yellowstone.
Not at all. We welcome first-time snowmobilers on every tour. Our guides provide comprehensive instruction before departure, and we match riders to machines appropriate for their skill level. If you can ride a bicycle, you can ride our snowmobiles.
Snow coaches are heated, enclosed vehicles similar to vans on tracks — perfect for families, photographers, and anyone who prefers to stay warm while watching the scenery. Snowmobile tours put you in the driver's seat for a more active, adventurous experience. Both reach the same destinations.
Winter temperatures in Yellowstone range from 0°F to 30°F. We recommend dressing in layers: a moisture-wicking base layer, an insulating fleece or down mid-layer, and a windproof outer shell. We provide helmets and outer bibs for snowmobile riders. Hand and foot warmers are a great idea.
Yes. Snow coach tours are suitable for all ages. For snowmobile tours, riders must be at least 16 years old with a valid driver's license to operate their own machine. Younger children can ride as passengers with a parent on snowmobiles, or join a snow coach tour instead.
We monitor conditions closely and rarely cancel due to weather. Light snow actually enhances the experience. In the rare event that road closures or extreme conditions prevent safe travel, we will reschedule or refund your tour in full.
Absolutely. Private tours are our specialty. Whether you're a family, a photography group, or a corporate retreat, we can design a custom itinerary around your interests. Contact us to arrange a private expedition.
